붉은 잎 상추
Shopping:
Leaf lettuce can be found in almost any grocery that carries fresh produce. Look for lettuce that is crisp at the bottom without being overly limp at the top. There should be no yellowed or slimy dark green to black areas on the leaves. Slight browning at the root end is okay as long as it is in easily trimmed areas.
Used In:
Leaf lettuce is used in salads (geotjori) and as wraps for ssam style dining.
Growing:
Leaf lettuce is pretty easy to grow. It can be planted in-ground, in containers, or in raised garden beds. Seeds may be planted in early spring during mild weather, and again in the fall about 6 weeks before first expected frost. Plant about 12 inches apart in soil prepared with compost or quality potting soil. The soil should also be well drained.
Leaf lettuce can be harvested starting with the outer leaves as soon as they are large enough for use.

Leaf lettuce is fairly easy to grow. Well prepared soil, nitrogen rich fertilizer, consistent watering, and good weeding practices can result in nearly season long availability.
