The wild ancestor of cultivated adzuki beans can be found across Japan, Korea, China, Nepal and Bhutan.
Cultivation of the Adzuki may have started as early as 3000 BC.
Adzuki beans are usually sweetened before eating, or made into a sweetened paste and used as a filling in different food items.
